The Filipino Votes 2016: The Die is Cast

CHANGE is the only constant in our universe.. and the Filipino seizes that opportunity today, 09 May 2016 as a new President is being chosen along with a Vice-President,  12 senators, a party list representative, and provincial, city/municipal local officials.

Laden with perennial challenges of chronic poverty, corruption in government, illegal drugs and human trafficking, and an exponentially-growing population coupled with more pressing issues such as the territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea, the country also faces the grim reality that it is one of the most vulnerable areas on the planet in terms of natural hazards leading mostly to disasters.

Choose a leader who will stand up to those challenges. Who will it be? At this point, it looks like we need a superhero!

The Filipino is aware of the load the new leaders face and he does not only hope – he demands that the elected ones will take on their duties seriously. Juan de la Cruz knows that in his own capacity he will stay as a law-abiding citizen, an industrious member of the work force, a loyal member of his family. He knows what he has to do for the country. Along with the rest of some 50 million voters, the Filipino is no longer the submissive servant. The silent majority has the strongest voice after all.

So in June 2016, a new hope will dawn upon us. For the next six years, we will make our own crucial path. Will the leaders we elected and selected bring us to a better tomorrow? Will we become better citizens and make that happen?

In the end, we all are responsible, for the die is cast.
